Obituary of Denise Koegel

Koegel, Denise (née Theinert), 64, of Merrick, NY, passed away on September 10th, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, NY.

Denise was born in East Meadow, NY, to William and Patricia Theinert. She graduated Holy Trinity High School in 1972. She went on to earn a B.S. and Master's in mathematics and Secondary Education from Adelphi University. She worked as a math teacher for over 30 years inspiring students daily at Hicksville and Syosset High School.

Denise is survived by her husband Kevin, children Christopher, Keri and Maureen, grandchildren Rebecca, Claire and Grace, and brother Jim. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Bruce.

Denise married Kevin Koegel on August 17th, 1979. She enjoyed running, being near the ocean and caring for family, friends, students, everyone.

Visitation will be held at NF Walker, Inc. Funeral Home, 2039 Merrick Ave. Merrick Wednesday from 5 to 9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. www.nfwalkerfh.com

Funeral Mass will be held at Cure of Ars R.C. Church, under the guidance of Msgr. Francis Caldwell, on Friday September 14th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at The Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
