I am saddened to learn that Belle has died. I tried to reach her several times to see how she was doing. We were all so touched that she came to Mom's wake in September and I wanted to stay in touch. Besides, she wwas also a lot of fun to speak to! I finally suspected something was wrong when I continued to get no answer. Had no other contact info.
I hope her passing was peaceful. My prayers and sympathy to you all and I am sure my sisters will be sending prayers as well once they hear the sad news.

Dear Mary and Joanie,
So sad to hear of your Mom's passing. My sister Christine and I only knew your parents once they moved to Long Island and have so many happy memories of them both. Your Mom was always laughing and telling us stories about Brooklyn. She said she worked for the phone company in split shifts and would have lunch watching a Brooklyn Dodger's game before returning to work. But my sister and my happiest memories were of all our parents getting together on New Year's Eve on Long Island. Both couples enjoyed each other's company so much. They were all such positive people and loving parents. We both talked to your Mom in early December, after we sent her the pictures from the old Brooklyn neighborhood. She said she was so proud of you and Joanie and your families. She was a great historian and humorist to the end of her days. Now she is reunited with the love of her life. Prayers and thoughts are with you all.
Love,
Lizzy Fahy Kellett and Christine Fahy Klemmer

Bell Tower and St. Gregory's Church and School on Saint John's Place, Brooklyn. Your mom told us this was your childhood church and hers. Barbara and Teddy made their first holy Communion there, too.

Your Mom told me she loved Grand Army Plaza. Our mothers would walk to Cheap Sam's on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, taking you girls and our brother Teddy and sister Barbara to "get out of the house and get great deals on clothes."

Lincoln Place Brooklyn, New York. Where your Mom asked our Mom to join a friendship club and became lifelong friends. Babysitting each other's children, going for walks and telling jokes ! Where the Cantwell and Fahy families first crossed paths.

I will always remember coming to the house in East Rockaway, to babysit Joanie Mary Frances and Kate. Your mom was always one of our favorite people. I am sure she is happy to be joining John.
