Joseph John Ruffino
July 28, 1933 – January 19, 2025
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph John Ruffino, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 91.
Joseph was born on July 28, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, to Josephine and Anthony Ruffino. He shared a close bond with his sister Phyllis, who predeceased him in 1984. A proud veteran, Joseph served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
Joseph’s life changed forever when he met his future wife, Joan, at a dance in Brooklyn. They were married on June 13, 1964, and built a loving family, welcoming three children and later embracing their spouses into the family: Stephanie (Ed), Michele (John), and Joseph (Marilena). Joseph was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Shannon, Andrew, Amanda, Patrick, Joseph, and Valentina, who were a great source of joy and happiness.
Joe was known for his love of history, passion for business, and his unique culinary talents. Above all, he will be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence, and warmth.
For the past two years, Joseph resided at the Long Island State Veterans Home, where he received exceptional care. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical team and staff for their compassionate and respectful support.
Joe, Dad, and Pop-Pop was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family welcomes all who wish to celebrate Joseph’s life at a mass of Christian burial at 11am, on Friday, January 24th, Cure of Ars Church in Merrick, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s honor to the Long Island State Veterans Home, Stonybrook, NY.
