Obituary of John Matthew Uhl

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Matthew Uhl, Jr (born April 4th, 1947) passed away on April 22, 2012, at the age of 65. He is survived by wife Arlene, children John III (Monica), Kimberly (Chocolate), Alison (Books), and Daniel (Internet), grandchildren John IV and Sarah (to whom he was Pop-Pop), and 8 siblings, Linda, Lee, Sue, Judi, Rick, Bob, Doug, and Tom. John loved music, comedies, electronic gadgets, smoking, playing cards, long drives, cookies, debating, sarcasm, sports, the Biography and Discovery channels, and the Islanders of the early 80s. He took tremendous joy in his little Johnny and Sarah. He told stories of playing at the '64 World's Fair in Queens, seeing the Beatles at Shea Stadium, trying out for the Mets, running into Belushi in Manhattan, and the zany adventures and misadventures of his four brothers and four sisters. John worked for IBM for over 26 years and was known as a go-to guy for all things computers. He was a coach and manager for baseball and rifle with the PBC and PAL of Nassau County. He was a hard-worker and a solid provider. He never met a cigarette he didn't like. John was strong-willed and argumentative, but also had a silly side and a wicked sense of humor. Having fathered four children he said if he had to do it all over again, the next time he'd have turtles. He always felt that there had to be something more for him out there. We hope that he's now able to find what he's always been looking for.
