Having been born and raised in Greenpoint NY, my mom, Kathleen Sindlinger Abramo, was an Aunt to Ray. We called him "Uncle Ray" and he would make it a point to visit us whenever he was on duty at the Greenpoint fire department. It was always nice to see him or visiting with his mom and dad out on the Island. I was always fascinated with his fireman duties working on the hook and ladder. Aunt Betty and Uncle Joe, I am sure, were always proud of their son! Throughout the many years we never lost contact as he would always send a Christmas card for the holidays.
