Obituary of Mary E. Tripi

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary E. Tripi died peacefully in her home at the age of 95, on September 26, 2023. She was born on October 26, 1927 to Mary and Emanuel Gonsalves. Raised in Brooklyn, NY, she grew up surrounded by her four siblings Manny, John, Anthony, and Dolores. It was here in Brooklyn that she also raised three adorable children, dedicating her time to serving as a Girl Scout troop leader, Boy Scout den mother, and church volunteer. She began her career as a sales associate for Sears Department store and later continued as a dental assistant. Eventually, she moved to Oceanside, NY, where she started a new role working in a dental lab. Finally, she transitioned into the exciting role of hostess for Carnival Bus Tours, where she entertained others on various adventures. She spent her time singing for passengers, leading games, and guiding activities. It was also around this time that she finally settled in Merrick, where she has been a resident for the past 31 years. As an active member of her community, she often spent her time, volunteering in the church, reading to the children at Chatterton elementary and working at the local polls during elections. As a member of the Homemakers and 50+ clubs, she engaged in artistic projects, built wonderful friendships and traveled the world. Mary loved being involved in her grandchildren's lives, attending sports and school events. It would put a big smile on her face when her grandchildren and great grandchildren visited. She filled her life with creativity and was a talented painter. She often painted landscapes, and family moments that inspired her. Her quick-witted humor also defined her personality, making those she loved laugh. Mary is survived by her daughter, Vivian (Bill) of Merrick, daughter Janice (Mickey) of Plantation, Florida and Charles (JoAnn) of East Williston and by her 9 grandchildren: Cory, Ryan, Jason (Jamie), Nicole (Keith), Danielle, Jenna (Brad), Maria (Martino), Charles, and Andrew. Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Victoria, Lucas, Jacob, Lily, Mateo, Maxson.
