Richard Shea, 71, of Brooklyn and Merrick, New York, passed away on March 2, 2023.
Rick (also known as Richie, Hondo, and most importantly, Dad and Papa) was born on July 29th, 1951 to David and Margaret (Phelan) Shea of Flatbush, Brooklyn.
A graduate of Grady High School, he went on to become a proud member of Local Union 3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W) for 54 years and worked at the Javits Convention Center for majority of his career.
Rick married Eileen Brady of Crown Heights, Brooklyn and had three children. They moved to Merrick, NY in 1979. He loved marching in parades as a drummer with the Sword of Light Pipe Band, riding his bike around Long Island, playing basketball, and cheering on the New York Mets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen and their three daughters, Kelly Shea (James Spahr), Kerrin Brennan (Michael), Eileen Mullen (Rich). He was an adored grandparent to his three granddaughters Nora, Emilia and Evelyn, a loving brother to his three sisters, Peggy (Fred), Joanne (Patrick), and Patty (Doug) and brother David (Eileen Mason Shea).
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, David, his brother-in-laws, Fred Markey and Patrick Goodwin and sister-in-law, Eileen Mason Shea.
