Marie Teresa Raab Portela

Marie lived a long, happy life full of love, family, faith, great friends, travel, and all the good things that her fulfilled life had to offer.

She lived in Merrick for 45 years with her husband Thomas (deceased) followed by adventures in Freeport for over 20 years. She was blessed with three children; Thomas (deceased), Jane (Richard) and Patricia (Patrick), and a grandson, Brendan, her pride and joy. She was a loving Aunt to her nieces and nephews.

With her family, she made beautiful memories at their summer home at Huletts Landing on Lake George. Marie loved the beach, reading books, music, dancing, Broadway and her "proper cocktail hours" with all she welcomed into her home.

She was very generous with her time; volunteering at Cure of Ars in the CYO, Parish Outreach Program and The Over 50 Club. For many years she was a volunteer at the INN and participated as a Board Member at the Merrick Library. Marie enjoyed a successful 20 year career working as an Executive Assistant for the Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island.

Most importantly, the legacy of Marie's infectious smile, her laughter and love will live on forever in the hearts of all that were privileged to know her.
