Obituary of Rita Bogenschutz

Rita Bogenschutz Death Announcement Rita A. Bogenschutz, 80, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022, at her home in Merrick, NY. Rita was born on Aug 8, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Anne Faulkner. Rita is predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 30 years Joseph. Rita was raised in a loving home with her mom and dad and her best friend/sister Kathy Himmel (known as the "Dolly Sisters"). Rita met the love of her life Joe at a church dance and married in 1962. In 1972, they moved to their home in Merrick, NY where they lovingly raised their two children (Joseph and Maureen). Rita was constantly shuttling kids to sports, school events and summer swimming at Newbridge Pool. After Joe's passing in 1992, Rita re-invented herself by working at H&R Block as a tax consultant which led to a 27-year career working at Catholic Home Care as an insurance adjuster. There she made many great friends. During this time, Rita "Nanny" was blessed with 3 grandchildren who brought her great joy and whom she adored and cherished. Rita was a faithful member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church, working numerous hours in the kitchen for bingo. She was a member of the Rosary Society and rarely missed Sunday mass. All who knew Rita will miss her compassion, inspiration and her sympathetic ear. She never complained and never troubled others with her problems. When asked how she was doing you received the same answer, "I am fine. " She is survived by her sister Kathleen Himmel, son Joseph (Margaret), daughter Maureen Kosinski, grandchildren Andrew & Joseph Bogenschutz, and Evelyn Kosinski.
