Kathleen "Kitty/Kay" Thompson age 92 of Merrick, NY, passed away on July 14, 2021 near home.
Visiting will be held on Monday, 19 July 2021 at 9:45AM at N.F. Walker Funeral Home 2039 Merrick Avenue Merrick. Fr. Steven will be officiating Mass at 11:15 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church 720 North Merrick Avenue, North Merrick, NY. Burial will follow at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Pinelawn, NY.
Kay was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Catherine Browne/Collins on 13 September, l928. She went to High School at Saint Saviour in Brooklyn. She went on to earn a License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse from the school of Nursing in NY. She worked as a Supervising RN at St Vincent's Hospital in New York City. In her youth she enjoyed basketball and hockey, and growing up she was an expert navigator on the NYC subways. She loved "Man of La Mancha", Lord & Taylor and was a superb cook much to her family's delight. She remained close with the nursing community and the school of Nursing, volunteered at her local church, and was a beautiful voice in the Church Choir for many years.
She is survived by her children, Michael Thompson of Pleasant Valley, NY and Irene Thompson of New York NY as well as her grandchildren Sean Thompson, David Taub and Kevin Taub, and her great grandchildren Liam and Peter Thompson. Loving brother Bill Brown. She is preceded in death by her spouse, John Thompson, and her brothers Fr. Joseph Browne and Jackie Browne.
