William Frederick Jark Obituary
William F. Jark
May 15th 1942 – May 20th 2026
William Jark, known affectionately to all who loved him as Billy or Bill, passed away on May 20th. He leaves behind a legacy defined by honor, hard work, and profound devotion to his family.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Glendale, Bill later moved to Merrick, where he made his home and lived for more than 50 years. He was a man who dedicated his life to protecting and serving others. He proudly served his country in the National Guard and spent 20 distinguished years with the NYPD, retiring as a Sergeant. He was a member of the Freemasons for over 50 years and an active, proud member of the chapter of the Blue Knights New York X.
Bill was happiest when he was out in nature hunting and fishing, or working with his hands as a master of carpentry—our ultimate "fixer of everything." He loved nothing more than the freedom of his motorcycle rides out to Captree, building furniture, or the simple comfort of unwinding in his favorite recliner with the TV on. In his retirement, he enjoyed sitting out on his porch, admiring the flowers he planted each season, or simply listening to the quiet roll of a thunderstorm with his wife.
Above all his achievements, Bill's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Jean, his beloved daughter Erin Girardin, and her husband Michael, and his cherished granddaughters, Rebecca and Colleen, to whom he was affectionately known as "Opa." He was the anchor of his family, and his warmth, strength, and steady presence will be missed beyond measure.
