Marilyn R Conte Obituary
Marilyn Rose Conte (née Schultheis), 88, of Woodhaven, Queens, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Born on August 25, 1937, in New York City, Marilyn was the devoted wife of the late Nicholas J. Conte and a dedicated mother to her six children.
A lifelong Catholic, she rarely missed Sunday Mass and instilled in her family the values of faith, generosity, and moral integrity. Her intelligence and quick wit were known to all who met her, and her home was always open and welcoming.
Throughout her life Marilyn faced illness and hardship with quiet resolve - surviving cancer three times, enduring chronic spinal pain, and overcoming the early loss of a kidney - never allowing personal challenges to diminish her warmth or her commitment to those she loved. A special heartfelt thanks from the family is extended to the staff at White Oaks nursing home for their thoughtful care in the waning years of her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas J. Conte, in 2018. Marilyn is survived by her six children: Mary Varkony (John), Thomas Conte (Diane), Angela Posch (Bill), Christopher Conte, James Conte (Nicole), and Daniel Conte (Becky); her thirteen grandchildren: Emily Fennelly, Robert Conte, Lisa Oxenford, Elizabeth Ratliff, Thomas DiGregorio, Megan Conte, Courtney Conte, Benjamin Conte, Nicholas Conte, Charles Conte, Samuel Conte, Cassidy Rose Conte and Danny Conte; and her six great-grandchildren: Kendall Julianna Fennelly, Shane William Fennelly, Sofia Rose Fennelly, Hadley Rose DiGregorio, Kanan Scott Ratliff, and Stevie Kris DiGregorio.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Curé of Ars Parish. Burial will follow alongside her husband, Nicholas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of Marilyn's favorite charities, St. Jude Children's research hospital, at http://fundraising.stjude.org/goto/mrc
