George Arianas passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2026, at the age of 92. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone. George was born on February 4th, 1934 to Panagiotis and Paula Arianas in Skoura, Greece. He is survived by his sons, Peter and Harry, daughter-in-law Maria, and grandchildren Alessia and George. He is reunited with his wife of 63 years, Tessie Arianas, and brothers, Stelios and Petros.

George grew up in Skoura, Greece with his parents and brothers. His house still stands as an operating taverna and a place for his family to stay when visiting Skoura. He was an avid soccer fan and player, forming lifelong friendships with his townsfolk. He exuded Spartan pride, and always shared his love of his country with those he met.

In the mid-1950s, George moved to Montreal, Canada and lived with his cousin Maria Prattas and her family. He looked back on this period of his life fondly, and often told stories of his time in Montreal. While there, he developed a love for hockey and became a lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadians.

He then moved to the United States to marry his beloved Tessie Laines in 1961; they settled on Long Island, and raised their two sons. He spent his career working in the diner industry, and was known to "go for coffee" and hangout with his fellow countrymen at various diners.

Throughout his life in Bellmore, he kept a thriving vegetable garden and proudly shared its produce with his family and friends. He was a proud original member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Merrick, where he volunteered at the annual bazaar.

George will be remembered as a kind, humble gentleman. He provided for his family, was a beloved community member, and was loved by everyone he encountered. His family will miss his kindness and love greatly. To honor George's life, family and friends will gather at N.F. Walker Funeral Home in Merrick. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 22nd from 4pm-8pm. The service will be at St. Demetrios Church on Monday, March 23rd at 9:30am, followed by his final resting at the Greenfield Cemetery.
