Mattie Lee Miller Obituary
In Loving Memory of
Mattie Lee Pegues Miller
January 11, 1944 – March 5, 2026
Mattie Lee Pegues Miller was born on January 11, 1944, in North Carolina to Hattie Peguese and Prince Peguese. She moved to New York in 1963 after marrying Kelly Miller, where she built a life centered around family, love, and caring for others.
Mattie became a loving and devoted mother to her children, Theodore Miller, Veronica Miller, and Sade Miller.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family, and she carried that love into every aspect of her life.
For many years, Mattie worked as a home health aide, caring for others with compassion and patience. She later opened her heart and home as a childcare provider, nurturing and protecting countless children as if they were her own. Families trusted her because she created a safe, warm, and loving space where children could grow and feel cared for.
Mattie had a strong spirit and a personality that could never be ignored. She spoke her mind freely and lived life with authenticity and strength. She loved to dance in front of her full-length mirror with her friends, laugh during long conversations with her sisters, and share stories that could last for hours.
Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She cherished every moment with them and poured endless love into their lives. From her famous potato salad to her long voicemails when she couldn't reach you by phone, Mattie had a way of leaving pieces of herself in the everyday moments that will now be treasured forever.
She was known for her beautiful skin, her strong intuition, and her ability to sense when something just wasn't right. More than anything, she loved deeply and protected those she cared about.
Mattie will be deeply missed by her children, Theodore Miller, Veronica Miller, and Sade Miller; her grandchildren Ayanna Primus, Jayden Armantrading, and Myla Delva; her daughter in law Lynn Miller, her six surviving siblings, Elizabeth, Hattie, MariAnne, Charles, Roy, Fairley and the many family members, friends, and children whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, strength, and spirit will live on through her children, her grandchildren, and everyone blessed to know her.
