Ronald Adam Cliszis Obituary

Ronald Adam Cliszis Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Coach, and Friend

Ronald Adam Cliszis passed away on October 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Judy; his son Matt and daughter-in-law Pam; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexa and Ben.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Bethpage, Ron made Merrick his home for the past 52 years. He spent 34 years shaping young minds and inspiring athletes as a teacher and basketball coach at Wantagh Junior and Senior High Schools. His impact on students and players alike was profound and enduring.

A passionate athlete, Ron was involved with sports throughout his whole life – from high school sports to Division I golf at St. John's University. He remained an avid golfer throughout his life and his time on the course was the most special to him – with his buddies, and most recently with his grandkids. His enthusiasm for the game was matched only by his unwavering loyalty to his favorite teams—the Yankees, Giants, Knicks and Rangers.

Ron was the life of every gathering, known for his infectious energy, quick wit, and deep friendships. He embraced life fully, bringing joy to those around him and creating memories that will be treasured forever.

His spirit lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in his memory to the New York chapter of The First Tee, an organization he loved with a mission to empower youth through character development and life skills using the game of golf.
