Francis J Nordone, 100, passed away on September 17th, 2025. He was a devoted loving husband for 74 years to Theresa (Wadanoli). Adoring father of Lynne (Timothy Rogers), Terri (Flip Johnson), Gail (Brian Crawford) and Cecelia (David Corley).  He was the proud grandfather of Duncan Johnson.

Frank was a long-time resident of Merrick, NY.  He was born on September 13, 1925 in Mount Vernon to Ralph and Frances Nordone and raised in the Bronx.  Frank graduated from Evander Childs High School at the age of 15. He went to officer training school at Cornell University before serving in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Solomons (CV-67) as an Ensign and was promoted to Lieutenant upon retirement from the US Naval Reserves. Frank received his Civil Engineering degree at NYU.  He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was associated with the New York Central Railroad.

His career as a Civil Engineer brought him to many companies including Humprey and Harding involved with the construction of the TWA terminal and the original United Airlines terminal (now Terminal 8) at JFK airport; Alcoa where he was involved in the construction of the United Nations Plaza, Executive Vice President of the Rockefeller Center Construction Corporation; and Charles Shaw Company where we was involved in the construction of the Museum Tower NYC over the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).

For 100 years Frank took immense joy in being with his family and friends creating wonderful memories that will last for all our lifetimes. He enjoyed playing golf and loved singing his favorite song Misty.

Friends may call on the family at NF Walker Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21st from 2-6pm.

Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Merrick on Monday, September 22nd at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Legion in Bellmore, NY or Bricks of Hope USA.
