Francis (Frank) Benner passed away at the age of 85 on September 12, 2025. He was born in Manhattan, NY, on March 3, 1940. Frank was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Benner Staite and Jack Benner, and his sister, Elizabeth Lore. He is survived by his brother, William Benner.
Frank was a loving and devoted husband to Alice, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage filled with unwavering support, partnership, and love.
He was the beloved father of Joanne Benner and Julie Weissberg, and father-in-law to Rob Weissberg. Frank was also a doting grandfather to his four granddaughters: Laura, Hayley, Victoria, and Vanessa Weissberg. His kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit touched many lives. Whether it was his warm smile, gentle wisdom, or the time he always made for others, Frank was a great storyteller. He would gladly share tales of his youth in Manhattan, his service in the Marines, his experiences working at Chase Manhattan Bank, his extensive movie collection, and the many vacations he enjoyed with his wife after their retirement. He beamed with pride whenever he spoke of his beautiful granddaughters.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps with honor and courage. Following his military service, he worked at Chase Manhattan Bank for 40 years.
Family and friends will gather to remember Frank at N.F. Walker Funeral Home, located at 2039 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, NY 11566.
