Michael John Murray Obituary

Michael is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, who departed this life on August 25, 2025 at the age of 83.

He was born on August 21, 1942. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy, with honor and courage. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to protecting and serving others as a police officer with the NYPD.

Michael will be remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. He was the rock of his family — a loving and devoted husband to Joanne, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage filled with unwavering support, partnership, and love.

He was a proud father to Joanne, Karalyn(George), Michelle (Phil), Alison(Tom) and Michael(Nicole). Michael was a doting grandfather to 15 grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to Connor. His kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit touched so many. Whether it was his warm smile, his gentle wisdom, or the way he always made time for others, Michael made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures — spending time with family, vacationing, listening to oldies and Irish music, watching Met games and always lending a hand to anyone in need. He was always the life of a party. His legacy is one of selflessness, integrity, and love.

He is survived by his sisters Lorraine and Diane, and preceded in death by his parents Edna and Michael.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Michael's love, strength, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
