Georganne Babcock Obituary

Georganne Babcock Obituary

Georganne Babcock, known as Jan, was the beloved wife to Bill Babcock for 54 years and a devoted mother to her children, Lee, Kimberly, and Chris.   Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jan lived in Merrick, LI for 58 years raising her three children with Bill.  Jan and Bill adopted twin daughters Kimberly and Lee from Colombia in 1977.  Chris was born two years later in 1979.   Her home is filled with love, beauty, timelessness, and  decorative objects some of which she created.  Each room, each windowsill is carefully curated with sentiments, stories and nostalgia.

Jan’s passion in addition to motherhood, was Ceramics.  She was an entrepreneur creating ‘Ceramics and Stuff’ with the assistance of Bill in the family basement that was very successful.  She wanted to be home for the three children while contributing to the family.  Her children recall the laughter from a basement full of women glazing Ceramic objects in Jan’s classes.  Pool parties, Christmases, birthdays, family dinners were extravagant events our mother orchestrated with love and detail.  After Lee, Kim and Chris were adults, Jan and Bill enjoyed dining out all over LI,  trips to Walt Disney World to visit their son, and spending time with their grandchildren.   After the passing of Bill Babcock in 2021, Jan slowed down trying to live with  Parkinson’s disease with dignity and grace in the comfort of her own home.   She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren - Olivia, Asher, Billy and Ivan.
