Muriel Edith Darmstadt "Midge" of Merrick passed away on April 24, 2025.

Muriel was born in Freeport, New York to Edith and Ward Johnson on  October 7, 1924. She married Lester Darmstadt on June 22, 1946 and eventually moved to Merrick. There she raised two sons, Les and Craig. 

Muriel is survived by her son Les(Helene), 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and many great nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Lester and her son Craig.

Muriel enjoyed watching football, doing crossword puzzles, ironing as she hummed some of very favorite tunes. She loved listening to and attending concerts by Englebert Humperdinck, and cooking for her family. She was easy to please and usually on the quiet side. She did  enjoy reminiscing about her favorite days gone by. Her most pleasure came from spending time with family. 

At the amazing age of 100 she has had the heartache of  losing 3 sisters , several 

sisters -in - law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She became the matriarch of the Johnson and Darmstadt families. She was part of a very special era, and now that era has ended.

She will be remembered as a sweet and gentle soul who was loved by many. She will be dearly missed. But her legacy will live on through her family. Rest in peace Mom, rest in peace.
